Meritorious Service Medal

'Sergeant Lang has done most excellent work as Pioneer Sergeant, he has performed his duties conscientiously, efficiently, and cheerfully. He has worked with the greatest zeal and energy and has always obtained the very best out of his Section. He has invariably displayed great courage and coolness in action. On two occasions, owing to casualties, he organised his Section as Runners and carried out this work with the greatest success. In every action he has done especially good work in supervising the despatch of rations and supplies to the Front line. This Non Commissioned Officer who is 43 years of age, has never spared himself and has invariably shown the most thoughtful care for his comrades. By his splendid devotion to duty he has always set a striking example to all ranks of the Battalion. Sergeant Lang was awarded the D.C.M. for conspicuous gallantry in the Battle of PASSCHENDALE.'
