Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 16 June 1916. Found guilty, 21 June 1916, of insubordinate language, 20 June 1916: awarded 24 hours' Field Punishment No 2. Disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. Wounded in action, 20 July 1916. Previous report of wounded, now, 28 July 1916, to be reported 'Killed in Action, 20 July 1916'. Buried New Military Cemetery, Sailly-sur-La-Lys, by Reverend J.J. Kennedy, 20 July 1916. Statement, Red Cross File No 1550907, 2096 Pte A.E. TONNING,31st Bn (patient, 3rd Southern General Hospital, Town Hall, Oxford, England), 9 November 1916: 'I knew that Pte. Larkins' grave is up at Sailly in a cemetery in a Churchyard. Some of the men in our section were up there, and saw it (Machine Gun Section).' Second statement, 648 Sergeant J.R. FLETCHER, 31st Bn (patient, 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, England), 23 Noveber 1916: 'Informant states that on 19th July 1916 at Fleurbaix, the whole 5th Division were making a charge and Larkins was then killed.
