Military Medal '2nd October to 5th October, 1917 - This N.C.O. was controlling the traffic along the STAR POINT - IDIOT CORNER Plank Road. On the day in question the road between these points was very heavily shelled, and in consequence many casualties occurred to both men and horses. Through his energy, coolness, and utter disregard of personal danger, he controlled the traffic on the road (traffic at all times being exceptionally heavy) and materially assisted in expediting the evacuation of the wounded.'
