Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For most conspicuous gallantry and daring in an attack on Le Verguier on 18 September, 1918. During the advance he led a section with such dash and skill that he succeeded in capturing six machine guns and 28 prisoners. He then rushed another post, again, capturing the whole garrison. His leadership was excellent.'
