'For coolness courage and care of his horses under shell and Machine Gun Fire during the operations at DERNANCOURT on April 1st to 5th a party of his Battalion was living in the Front Line (Railway) near DERNANCOURT, carrying out mining work, Driver LEE on several occasions delivered material and supplies right up to the Railway Line, displaying the greatest determination and gallantry. His care for his horses has often been most conspicuous under very hazardous and trying conditions during the period February to September 1918.'
