'This Lance-Corporal during the whole operations continually carried messages from the Front Line and Battalion Headquarters through the enemy barrage and also took out patrols during the day and sent back valuable information regarding the movements of the enemy. On the 27th September he organised No. 16 Platoon and maintained communication with the British Troops on our right when our flank was in danger.'
