Military Medal

'Near BRAY-Sur-SOMME on 15th August, 1918, portion of our newly established front line was heavily shelled by the enemy causing many casualties. Private LEMM unhesitatingly proceeded to the spot to assist wounded. He heard that a man was buried by a shell and although the enemy was still heavily shelling the position he set to work and after half an hours digging succeeded in saving the man. He showed conspicuous gallantry and set a high example of courage to all ranks.'
