War Service: Embarked from Australia 11 April 1916; disembarked at Suez 15 May 1916; embarked per H T 'Ivernia' to join British Expeditionary Force ex Alexandria 21 June 1916; disembarked at Marseilles 29 June 1916. Taken on strength of 5th Pioneer Battalion 17 March 1917.

Crime: Overstayed his leave from 6am to 9am 20 September 1917; 7 days Field punishment No.2.

Sick to hospital 10 October 1917, rejoined from sick 7 November 1917; sick to hospital 20 November 1917, rejoined from sick 9 December 1917.

Proceeded on leave to UK 9 November 1918.
