Military Medal 'This N.C.O. with Sapper LIGHT, reconnoitred the route for the buried cable forward, from WESTHOEK RIDGE to ALBERT REDOUBT, on the 20th September, 1917 with the first wave of the attacking Infantry. Later he supervised the burying of the cable, and by his fine work and example, forced the work along at an extraordinary rate, giving a sure and safe means of communications forward. He exhibited a fine disregard of personal danger, and coolness under very heavy shell fire.'
