War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 30 April 1915. Admitted to 16th Casualty Clearing Station, 22 May 1915 (piles; transferred to No 2 General Hospital, Ghezireh, 27 May 1915; discharged to duty, 29 June 1915. Medical Report, 31 March 1916: 'Had severe attack of piles. They burst and gangrene set in. Had to be operated on board ship. Trouble with leg started after that.'
