Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty throughout operations 2nd September to 5th September 1918. This man carried messages continuously between Brigade Battalion and Company Headquarters and when other means of communication was impossible they rendered invaluable services. He passed continuously through shell fire under short range Machine Gun fire and crossed improved bridges marked by enemy fire. His services during the entire operations were responsible in a great measure for maintenance of communication.'
