Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry and initiative between Tabsor and Tul Keram, on 19 September, 1918. After returning from a screen sent to draw the enemy's fire, he came into contact with an enemy convoy. Along with another man, he charged the convoy and escort under fire, capturing the convoy with its escort complete, taking three officers and ten other ranks.'
