Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty during the period 16 September to 11 November 1918. His coolness in action had a marked effect upon his comrades and he was of great value to his battalion at Warneton and Morlancourt. Although partially buried by a shell, he stuck to his position and insisted on firing until every round was fired.'
