At Semakh, when his squadron was ordered to attack on the left of the 11th Australian Light Horse Regiment the enemy made a stubborn resistance, and were subdued only after bitter hand-to-hand fighting in the buildings of the village. On the same day, by a smart flanking movement, this officer captured the enemy garrison at Tiberias, consisting of twelve officers and 83 other ranks, together with thirteen machine guns.'
