Admitted to No 3 Field Ambulance, Tel el Kebir, 24 February 1916 (influenza); transferred to No 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, Tel el Kebir, 24 February 1916; discharged and rejoined unit, 28 February 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916. On Command at School of Instruction, Cassell, 1 July 1916; rejoined unit, 15 July 1916. Posted as missing in action, 20 July 1916; now, 12 August 1916, reported as a prisoner of war at Gefangenenlager, Soltau, Germany. Struck off strength of 32nd Bn, 20 October 1916. Place of detention now, 31 October 1916, Kregagefangenenlager, Minden, Germany. Now, 13 June 1918, transferred to Holland for interment. Arrived in England, 20 March 1919; reported to A.I.F.
