Military Medal

'Is recommended for his excellent work and courageous example during the attack near ZONNEBEKE on the 26th September, 1917. On one occasion he led an ammunition pack mule train over shell swept country through the darkness of the night. As an N.C.O. in charge of a machine gun he behaved very coolly and he set a very magnificent example to the men under his command during the whole of the operation whilst his gun was on machine gun barrage work and whilst he was in the newly captured positions. He is recommended for the Military Medal.'
