Military Medal

'For bravery and devotion to duty. On the 8th August, 1918, during the attack on the enemy's position east of HAMEL, Sergeant MACAULEY was in charge of a Platoon when, by his fine leadership and the manner in which he controlled his Platoon fire, he greatly assisted in the severe defeat which the enemy suffered. He also rendered valuable assistance by covering fire to the Platoons on his flanks. During the operation he successfully captured several dugouts containing many prisoners. Throughout the operations he displayed much bravery and set a very fine example to his comrades.'
