Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on forward transport work. He continually mended the sleeper road under five and cleared away remains of destroyed vehicles to enable his convoy to proceed. Later, he worked hard in the open under fire attending to the numerous wounded men.'
