Admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, England (pleurisy, frostbite), 5 March 1917; married Leonora Gladys MATTHEWS, 3 June 1917; rejoined unit in France, 11 September 1917. Admitted to 2nd Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, England (shell shock), 30 January 1918. Taken on strength of Australian Army Pay Corps, 9 April 1918, and rejoined unit, 20 April 1918. Commenced return to Australia, 22 December 1919. Discharged, 11 April 1920.
