Military Medal 'On 14th October, 1917, during heavy enemy shelling on the road at ZONNEBEKE, this N.C.O. at great personal risk and under great difficulties succeeded in getting a large quantity of engineer stores forward, and by his coolness and courage set an example to the other members of the party. Later he supervised the laying of duckwalk tracks to Battalion and Forward Company Headquarters under heavy shell fire. On 16th October, 1917, he was attached to the Battalion holding the line to assist in wiring the front of the Sector. The way in which he handled his working parties enabled a large amount of important work to be efficiently carried out.'
