Meritorious Service Medal

'This N.C.O. has been Pioneer Sergeant of this Battalion for 18 months. he has at all times done solid conscientious work. Part of his duties, namely burials, has on many occasions exposed him to extreme danger, but he has never allowed circumstances of personal safety to interfere with the conscientious performance of his work. His services in providing cover for the men on all possible occasions have been invaluable.'
