'On morning of 14th May, 1918 during enemy attack on our lines near MORLANCOURT south of Albert ????? these two men did excellent work in getting back messages through the enemy barrage to Company and Battalion Headquarters. They carried important messages several times between the Company and Companies on flanks, through Machine Gun and shell fire, when all signal communications had broken down. by this means liaison was kept with the other Companies of the battalion and greatly assisted the success of the counter attack.'
