'Private MALIN, was one of the Pioneer working party under Lieutenant REID, constructing Tunnels through the Railway embankment between BUIRE and DERNANCOURT on 5th April, 1918. This man was a splendid example to all by his coolness and courage, during the enemy attack he was slightly wounded at about 11 a.m. and was sent back to the dressing station to have his wounds dressed, within an hour he returned to his post, and continued during the remainder of the attack, and assisting to hold the position. By his coolness, cheerfulness and example under most trying circumstances was invaluable in keeping up the moral of the men.'
