Military Medal 'During the attack on DECLINE COPSE, East of ZONNEBEKE, on 26th October, 1917 this man displayed great gallantry and devotion to duty by carrying despatches all day under heavy shell fire. By his bravery he was instrumental in maintaining communication when the shell fire was so severe that the telephone lines could not be kept in repair, and the only means of communication left was by runners through the heaviest barrage.'
