Embarked from Alexandria for Gallipoli, 1 August 1915. Wounded in action, 289 August 1915 (bomb wound, thigh); admitted to No. 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 1 September 1915; transferred to England and admitted to Military Hospital, Church Lane, Tooting, London, 27 September 1915; returned to duty, Heliopolis, Egypt, 14 January 1916.

Transferred to 3rd Light Horse Brigade Machine Gun Squadron, 1 August 1916; to 10th Light Horse Regiment, 1 August 1916.

Passed Hotchkiss Gun course, Imperial School of Instruction, Zeitoun, 2 July 1917.

Wounded in action, 11 November 1917 (gun shot wound, face); taken on strength, 3rd Light Horse Training Regiment, 27 November 1917.

Sustained fracture to lower left fibula, 24 June 1918; injury caused through stepping on a loose stone on the way to the latrine; CO's opinion: was in the performance of military duty; no one to blame.; rejoined 10th Light Horse Regiment, 14 September 1918.
