Military Medal 'During the operations of the 8th, 9th and 10th August 1918 in front of HAMEL - VILLERS BRETONNEUX, this man acted as runner for the Battery, and owing to his courage and total disregard of personal danger, messages of importance never failed to reach their destination. As it was impossible to maintain telephonic communication with the F.O.O. in front of HARBONNIERES, Gunner MARKLEY went to and from O.P. to Battery across enemy barrage zone with important intelligence as to situation on front.
