Military Medal 'On the morning of 24th April, 1918, near CORBIE, this Gunner volunteered to assist in repairing Divisional Artillery and Liaison lines in the vicinity of the 55th A.F.A. Battery position. Owing to the intensity and regularity of enemy shell fire in this particular area, telephone lines were being continually broken. He had been employed all the morning on repairing Battery lines, and although subjected the whole time to heavy shell fire showed great coolness in the performance of his tasks. He had just completed a joint in one line and was repairing another to Artillery Headquarters when a piece of shell struck him in the fore arm and broke his arm. His splendid example of coolness, courage and devotion to duty are deserving of special recognition.'
