Military Medal

'For bravery and devotion to duty during the attack near VILLERET on 18th September, 1918. Sergeant MARTIN was in charge of stretcher bearers at an Aid Post. He showed great initiative during the advance and despite heavy shell fire personally reconnoitred the clearing route and assisted materially with the evacuation of the wounded. His cheerfulness contributed largley in keeping up the spirits of his men under arduous and trying circumstances.'
