Military Medal

'For gallantry in action and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. was for a period of six days prior to the attack near POLYGONE WOOD, in charge of a Brigade forward dump on WESTHOEK RIDGE, which he worked very hard to establish under exceptionally heavy fire. He afterwards followed up in rear of the attacking troops and established dumps just in rear of each objective. He showed great courage, coolness, and initiative at all times.'
