War service: Egypt, Palestine Commenced return to Australia from Port Said on board HT 'Dorset', 29 April 1919; disembarked Sydney, 11 June 1919; discharged (medically unfit), Sydney, 4 July 1919. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal February 1937 submitted entry from the Register of Births to show that his true name was Joseph William Michael PASCOE. He requested that his discharge certificate be changed to show his true name, since he required proof of being a returned serviceman to ensure continued employment by the Railways Board. Base Records replied, 22 February 1937, that a Certificate of Discharge could only be issued in the name under which an individual served. |
