Military Medal 'During the operations along the MENIN ROAD, when his section commenced work on Strong Points in POLYGON WOOD at an early hour on the morning of 21st September, 1917, he was given the work of constructing one. Though subjected to continuous and heavy shell fire and machine gun fire for several hours he never ceased work and by his example and encouragement the work was successfully completed.'
