Accidentally injured, 28-29 July 1918 (fell while carrying rations; fractured left tibia); admitted to 5th Casualty Clearing Station, 3 August 1918; transferred to 3rd General Hospital, Le Treport, 4 August 1918; to England, 8 August 1918, and admitted to Beaufort War Hospital, Bristol, 9 August 1918; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 8 November 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Nestor', 12 December 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 1 February 1919; discharged, 5 March 1919.
