Meritorious Service Medal Refers 12-13 June 1916. Recommendation date: Military Medal (Not awarded) 'Near Le Bridoux on the night of 12/13 June. Sergt. McCarthy was the Sergeant in command of one of the parties and was exceptionally fine in rallying that party before entering and in his work in the trench. He was very cool-headed throughout in ejecting prisoners. It was mainly through him that the heavy enemy M.G. was with difficulty got out of their trench.
