War service: Western Front Embarked Fremantle, 23 December 1916; admitted to ship's hospital, 14 January 1917; discharged from ship's hospital, 15 January 1917; disembarked Devonport, England, 16 February 1917, and marched into 3rd Training Bn, Durrington. Found guilty, Durrington, 28 February 1917, of being absent without leave from Tattoo, 25 February, to 2 pm, 27 February 1917: awarded 72 hours' detention. Marched out to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, for return to Australia, 5 August 1917. Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Pakeha', 27 August 1917; found guilty, at sea, 12 January 1917, of being absent without leave from 7.45 am, 12 January, to 6 pm, 14 January 1917: awarded 72 hours' detention, and forfeiture of a total of 6 days' pay; disembarked Fremantle, 14 October 1917; discharged (medically unfit: flat feet and bunions), 2 November 1917.
