Embarked Adelaide, 11 January 1916; disembarked Suez, 9 February 1916.

Embarked Alexandria, 6 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 June 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 5 September 1916; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 6 September 1916.

Promoted to Acting Corporal, 13 September 1916.

Marched out to unit and reverts to the rank of Private, 21 September 1916; taken on strength of 32nd Bn, in the field, 24 September 1916.

Evacuated to hospital, 1 November 1916; admitted to No 38 Casualty Clearing Station, 2 November 1916 (rheumatism), then transferred to No 23 General Hospital the same day (myalgia); to England, 4 November 1916 (trench feet); to Military Hospital, Colchester, 4 November 1916; to No 2 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, 13 November 1916; discharged to No 4 Command Depot, Wareham, 16 November 1916.

Found guilty, 25 January 1917, of being absent without leave from 1500 hours, 12 January 1917, until 1615 hours, 25 January 1917: awarded 14 days' detention and 29 days' forfeiture of pay.

Transferred to, and taken on strength of 70th Bn, 3 April 1917.

Found guilty, 22 May 1917, of (1) being absent without leave from 0900 hours, until 1645 hours, 20 May 1917; (2) neglect to obey orders: awarded 1 day's Field Punishment No 2 and 3 days' forfeiture of pay.

Transferred to 32nd Bn, 19 September 1917, and marched into 69th Draft Bn the same day.

Proceeded overseas to France, 14 October 1917; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Le Havre, 15 October 1917.

Marched out to unit, 18 October 1917; taken on strength of 32nd Bn, 26 October 1917.

On leave to England, 20 October 1918; rejoined unit, 8 November 1918.

Marched out of 32nd Bn for return to Australia, 5 March 1919; marched into No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 15 March 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Devanha', 8 May 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 20 June 1917; discharged Adelaide, 12 August 1919.
