Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For consistently good work and devotion to duty from 25 February to 16 September 1918. As C.S.M. and R.S.M. he has performed his duties in a most capable manner. He is a keen soldier and a good disciplinarian. In action his conduct is of the highest order, and his example is a fine incentive to the men of his battalion.'

Military Medal

'These men [McColl, 2606 W.L. Grace and 3715 A.H. Buckeridge] were members of the 2nd Aust. Battn. Raiding party on night of 12/13th October 1916, when they came under heavy Bomb and Rifle fire; their courage largely assisted the Officers to re-organise their parties, and set an example that helped to make the raid a success, they are worthy of special recommendations.'
