Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Acting as B.S.M. in addition to commanding his own subsection, when the battery was very much depleted, especially in N.C.O.'s he continually supervised the work of the detachments composed largely of reinforcements, and it was largely due to him that all the guns remained in action throughout the entire operation.'
