'For meritorious service and devotion to duty during the period 25th February to 16th September 1918. This N.C.O. has always shown more than ordinary ability and personal courage. His duties often take him under fire in the forward areas, and his personal courage and conspicuously good handling of his transport section, has imbued his men with confidence in his very marked ability as a leader of men.'
