Embarked from Australia 10 February 1916; taken on strength of 1st Light Horse Regiment, Heliopolis, 8 March 1916; transferred to 4th Divisional Artillery, Serapeum, 21 April 1916; taken on strength of 4th Divisional Artillery Column and posted to No. 2 Section. Promoted to temporary Battery Quarter Master Sergeant.

Proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916; disembarked from the "Oriana" at Marseilles, 13 June 1916. Promoted to Battery Quarter Master Sergeant.

On leave to UK 31 August 1918; rejoined unit in the field 21 September. Marched out for return to Australia 22 March 1919; disembarked Weymouth, England 1 April 1919; embarked for return to Australia per "Devanha" 8 May 1919. Discharged 12 August 1919, Adelaide.
