Military Medal 'During the operations of 29th and 30th September and 1st October this soldier was employed as a runner with the Officer acting as Liaison Officer between Battalions. Throughout he displayed a courage and resource of a very high order in face of very heavy artillery and machine gun fire. Being instructed to obtain the dispositions of the [?] Battalion for the information of a flanking Battalion he went forward and by personal observation marked off the dispositions and returned with the information. His initiative and resource throughout the whole operation contributed materially to their success.'
