Admitted to 1st Field Ambulance, 3 September 1915; transferred to 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 4 September 1915; to St Patrick's Hospital, Malta, 10 September 1915 (asthma); to England, 13 October 1915, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, 19 October 1915. Found guilty, 6 December 1915, of being absent without leave, 20 November-6 December 1915: awarded 17 days' detention, forfeited 17 days pay. Found guilty, 15 January 1916, of being drunk, using obscene language, resisting escort: awarded 168 hours detention. Found guilty, 8 March 1916, of being absent without leave, 13 December 1915-14 January 1916: awarded 17 days detention, forfeited 33 days' pay.
