Wounded in action, 21 August 1916 (gun shot wound, right shoulder); transferred to England, 26 August 1916, and admitted to Norfolk War Hospital. Transferred to 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, 22 September 1916; discharged to No. 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 20 October 1916. Transferred to 69th Bn, Wareham, 26 March 1917. Married Eva Lucy ISIBILL at The Citadel, Norwich, 8 March 1917.
