Military Medal 'At BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES during the operations from 1st to 8th Oct., 1917, McGRATH displayed consummate coolness and marked devotion to duty. Throughout the operation he did splendid work. He was ever ready at his post and made long and dangerous observations when the artillery was particularly active. He afterwards volunteered and carried out reconnaissances of a most daring nature when an enemy attack was threatening our position.'
