Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Clery, on 29th-30th August 1918. His company met with stiff opposition; several strong points were rushed, garrisons and machine guns being captured. Out of the main post the assaulting troops captured the commandant of Clery, with 59 prisoners and two machine guns. He was always in the thick of the fighting.'
