Admitted to No 4 Auxiliary Hospital, Abbassia, 12 February 1916 (mumps); discharged to Detail Camp, 4 March 1916; rejoined unit, Girga, 20 March 1916.

Found guilty, 3 January 1917 of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, in that he, on 29 December 1916 at El Arish, when ordered to clean up the fodder heap, relied ‘speak to me with civility not like a dog’: awarded 96 hours’ Field Punishment No 2.

Killed in action, Rafa, Palestine, 9 January 1917.
