Distinguished Conduct Medal

'On 16th September 1917, the 14th Battery AFA emplaced near the Menin Road was subjected to heavy and continuous artillery fire. Gunpits and dumps were frequently set on fire. This N.C.O. on four occasions left cover and, at great personal risk, rushed out and extinguished the fires. He undoubtedly saved a considerable amount of ammunition and, possibly damage to guns. He behaved with great gallantry and set an example to his detachment. This N.C.O. on previous occasions behaved with conspicuous gallantry and has repeatedly proved himself an excellent soldier.'

MM Bar

'At VAUVILLERS on 22nd August, 1918, for most consistent gallantry and devotion to duty. He helped in extinguishing camouflage and exploding ammunition in a Gun Pit which was on fire, the position was being heavily shelled with 8" at the time. Again in the afternoon when the position was under 8" fire, at great personal risk he shepherded his men into safety, being himself the last to leave. Later on in the evening he was foremost in removing the wounded under heavy shell fire. During the whole of these events Sergeant McLAURIN displayed the utmost coolness and resourcefulness and showed a very fine example to al ranks.'
