Wounded in action, 24 May 1915 (gun shot wound, right leg: slight); transferred to Malta (date not recorded), and then to England, 20 June 1915, and admitted to Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, 27 June 1915.

Returned from England to rejoin the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 18 September 1918; rejoined unit, Mudros West, 20 September 1915.

Appointed Lance Corporal, 18 November 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria, 27 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation), 27 December 1915.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 30 March 1916.
