Contracted tonsillitis at Gallipoli; transferred to 15th General Hospital, Alexandria, 15 August 1915; discharged to Convalescent Home, 28 August 1915. Re-embarked for Gallipoli, 2 October 1915; rejoined unit, 10 October 1915. Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, Gallipoli, 10 December 1915 (tonsillitis); transferred to Hospital Ship 'Oxfordshire', 12 December 1915; arrived Alexandria, 15 December 1915, and admitted to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Luna Park; discharged from hospital, 5 January 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 28 March 1916.

Wounded in action (gun shot wound, left leg, knee, severe), 22 June 1916; transferred to England, 26 July 1916; admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Edgbaston, 28 July 1916.

Discharged for return to Australia, commencing 12 November 1916 on board 'Wiltshire'; discharged in Sydney, 10 April 1917.
