Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry at Lihons, 10 August, 4918. When his company officer had been wounded and his platoon held up, this N.C.O. went out alone, under intense machine gun fire, and made a daring reconnaissance, locating three enemy strong points. He then collected his scattered men and captured the position.'
