Embarked Sydney, 8 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 10 January 1917, and marched in to Training Bn, Codford.

Proceeded overseas to France, 15 March 1917; taken on strength, 45th Bn, in the field, 30 March 1917.

Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 26 August 1917 (chronic constipation), and transferred same day to Divisional Rest Station and thence to 12th Australian Field Ambulance; to 44th Field Ambulance, 2 September 1917; to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station, 11 September 1917; to Ambulance Train No 16, 13 September 1917, and admitted to 47th General Hospital, Le Treport, 14 September 1917; to England, 25 September 1917, and admitted to Bath War Hospital, 26 September 1917 (gastric ulcer). Transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 12 February 1918; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 26 February 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Dunluce Castle' for discharge, 8 April 1918; discharged (medically unfit), 10 December 1918.
